The University Orchestra of Alcala de Henares acts on Sunday in El Batel (29/04/2016)

In the series of orchestras and university choirs Music for all organized by the Culture Department of the City of Cartagena, UPCT and ISEN, on Sunday May 1 at 20:00 pm in the auditorium of El Batel will be the performance of the Orchestra university of Alcala de Henares directed by Paul Gastaminza.

Orchestra of the University of Alcala de Henares

The Orchestra UAH born during the year 2008-2009 as an initiative of the Vice President for University Extension, to create an instrumental musical group that would bring together students, teachers, Erasmus and musicians Henares Corridor.

The project is based on the virtues of chamber music, and the idea that ORQUAH should be not only an Orchestra, but also musical forum.

The result is a versatile group capable of mounting rope programs alone, wind, mixed orchestra and chamber music as a complementary activity.

Since its foundation ORQUAH has "plunged" in various repertoires, ranging from Monteverdi to Latinfusión and jazz, classics such as Bach, Telemann, Vivaldi, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Schubert, Grieg, Holst, Wagner, Rota ... the Orchestra of the University of Alcala has become a cultural reference Henares Corridor, and recently opened trials also in Madrid, as Orchestra in Residence Musical Progress (top center private music), broadening horizons and being cultural embassy of the University of Alcalá.

Paul Gastaminza, Director

He began his musical studies at Valladolid, later expanding them in the Superior Conservatories of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and Salamanca, obtaining his title of Senior Lecturer in Music, specializing in viola.

In parallel, he received a scholarship from the University of Salamanca to study early music with Win ten Have and done lots of courses with renowned performers like Barry Sargent, Ingart Schaller and Maggie Urkhart among others.

Later attends the Master in Musicology and Interpretation of Ancient Music, specializing in baroque violin UAB / ESMUC under the tutelage of Juan Carlos Asensio, Chiara Banchini and Manfredo Kraemer.

He has received grants from the Xunta de Galicia, Jaume Caullis Foundation and Foundation Don Juan de Borbon.

Assumes the task of manager-coach of various youth groups and multidisciplinary projects especially with the Dance Company & Music Esquivel, which is tied for 20 years, performing throughout the Spanish geography.

She combines this activity with instrumentalist, performing throughout Europe and South America with various groups, in theaters and cycles Auditorio Nacional, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Almagro International Festival, Festival of ancient music of the Caixa Foundation Juan March etc ... And recording for labels such as Naxos, Erato-Warner, Column Music, RTVE Music etc.

He currently combines his teaching and concert activity with the direction of the Orchestra UAH
