Local Police launched a campaign to improve the safety of pedestrians (28/04/2016)

To avoid collisions with pedestrians on public roads Cartagena Local Police has prepared an awareness campaign aimed at pedestrians and drivers that will be held on 4, 5 and 6 May.

To do so, agents monitored crosswalks where the risk of abuse may be higher.

As noted by the Councillor for Citizen Security and Public Way, Francisco Aznar, the main objective of this campaign is that pedestrians can move safely through the streets of the city.

To do this, you should always look both ways and wait for vehicles to stop before starting to cross and when the steps are regulated by traffic lights, waiting for it to turn green and vehicles are stopped.

Moreover, it is vitally important to avoid crossing crosswalks talking on the phone or listening to music and respect the instructions of the agents that regulate traffic.

In the safety of pedestrians also play drivers of vehicles a very important role.

Local police advised show a permanent driving to ensure the safety of the vehicles themselves, passengers and other road users attention.

This translates into actions as moderate speed when pedestrians near the route by which it circulates, leaving greater than 1.50 m apart with pedestrians overtaking outside town, and always make the stops and parking lots trying to preserve the safety of road users and always signaling maneuvers in advance.
