Cartagena Port of Cultures breaks seasonality and adds 17,000 more visitors in low season during the first quarter of 2016 (26/04/2016)

The president of Cartagena Port of Cultures, Ana Belén Castejon, said that Cartagena Port of Cultures has obtained very positive results during the first quarter of the year as there have been 17,000 visitors more in low season during the period 1 January-11 April this year 2016.

Castejon has stressed that this increase in visitors has resulted in an increase in revenue (26%) by increasing ticket sales, transport and turnover in stores has increased by 19% with the sale of souvenirs and products tourist.

Deputy Mayor said that these figures confirm the commitment to break the seasonality in the city of Cartagena during the months of low season by promoting tourism products and campaigns of sites, museums, in addition to holding congresses and professional conferences during the winter still attract thousands of visitors to our city.

Castejon noted that among the centers largest increase in visits have received is the Augusteum (149%) for the successful convening of the exhibition Tutankhamun: Tombs, gods and temples, besides the Centre of Interpretation of the Punic Wall with an increase visits to over 60% during the first quarter.

With regard to the overall count of visitors, the president of tourism company has stressed that it is very significant elaumento cruise passengers (3%) and visitors by travel agencies (3%) also noted that by origin is notable increase in visitors from Region of Murcia (4%) and other countries (2%).

Castejon said that as of this date and during the next few months we will implement promotional campaigns and dissemination of our destiny to place Cartagena in the place it deserves in the national tourist map for its privileged weather, due to its special geographical location in the Mediterranean and the richness of their heritage resources.
