The area councilor Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon, held a meeting with the president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in Cartagena, Pablo Cerezuela this morning.
During the meeting, it has raised the possibility of running a pilot project to promote the city of Cartagena as a pioneer town and would like finfomentar protection under solar radiation through healthy habits.
The program would be implemented in under 3 to 6 years and would be developed in all schools in the municipality.
So, 30 minutes before going to recess, children apply sunscreen in order to delve into preventive action against the appearance of melanomas.
In addition, the program, which would be the result of coordinated work between elÁrea Quality of Life and the Department of Education, provides personalized follow-up of children to evaluate the resulting positive effects of implementing such preventive measures.
The local executive continues to set in health care as a priority in its action of government, promoting preventive and early intervention policies.
