Students of the Chair Hidrogea-UPCT present their innovation projects (15/04/2016)

Proposals to reduce environmental impacts and improve water efficiency.

Here are some of the issues that the 21 students of the Polytechnic of Cartagena scholarship this year by the Chair Hidrogea-UPCT presented this morning.

Among the projects developed by students of Engineering School of Roads, Industrial and Telecommunications, is the creation of a PPP approach that will allow the service management of urban water cycle citizens.

The development of the demo version, which includes rainfall data, origin and quality of water consumed, works and impact on traffic, technical service data and voice incidence also allows you to include information about other services present in the city as public transport or waste collection.

Besides that, it seeks to reduce environmental and economic impacts and water and energy efficiency.

Notably work for the project LIFE SIAMEC, funded by the EU, which aims to test the effectiveness of wastewater treatment using an anaerobic system that works at room temperature, managing to reduce energy consumption and production sludge, improving efficiency and sustainability of purification processes.

The proposals of the students are framed in R + D + i.

Two of the 21 fellows of the chair have achieved an employment contract in the water company due to proven talent and developing excellent work during this first year.

On the day he has also participated Francisca Marco Cutillas, who received the award from the chair to the best final degree for his "Analysis and Evaluation of sediment transport in the Rambla Albujón".

The Acting Rector Jose Antonio Franco and the new Rector, Alejandro Diaz Morcillo have attended the presentation to learn youth projects.

The Chair Hidrogea-UPCT, co-directed by Juan García Bermejo and Fernando Cerdan, is inserted into the Network Technology Companies Chairs UPCT.

One area of ​​collaboration between the private sector and the Polytechnic University, based on research and technology transfer.

Currently, he is working on a new scholarship selection process to cover projects to be developed over the next year.
