The protocol is finalized to address the proliferation of colonies of Vietnamese pigs in Los Mateos (14/03/2016)

The Bureau of Animal Welfare, chaired by council area of ​​Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon has held its monthly meeting this morning.

The central issue of the meeting, held in the Administration Building of San Miguel, has been the proliferation of colonies of Vietnamese pigs at various locations in the district of Los Mateos, for the solution of a protocol that will be activated after the period is last Easter.

This protocol, for which counted on the intervention of the members of the Bureau of Animal Welfare, come to answer a question that affects public health and neighborhood safety.

The procedure will search the relocation of as many pigs in animal sanctuaries located in different parts of Spanish territory, thus avoiding the mass slaughter.

Shrines are rescue centers and animal shelter in which the Vietnamese pigs would be served, ensuring decent living conditions in a suitable environment.

The specimens that can not be accommodated in holy places shall be taken to the slaughterhouse, where it shall be ensured to avoid any suffering, giving them a dignified treatment.

ORDINANCE, BEACHES, EDUCATION AND OTHER MATTERS OF INTEREST

Referring to the amendment of the bylaw concerning pets, and expects the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia modify the regional policy, progress has been made in the protocol Town Hall, Local Police, CATAD and protection of animals kept to combat animal abuse and neglect.

In addition, the Bureau of Animal Welfare has continued to work on other issues such as the empowerment of beaches where the presence of animals are authorized.

Finally, it discussed the suitability of design lectures in schools in order to create awareness among children of the importance of animal welfare

This initiative would involve the participation of the Department of Education in coordination with the animal protection and the College of Veterinary Surgeons.

The Bureau of Animal Welfare has among its objectives to promote policies for awareness to ensure adoptions responsible for pets, avoid the abandonment of pets, monitor compliance with the Law on Protection and Keeping of Animals, and have access to all the ordinances and municipal licenses related to this area.

It consists of local police, Seprona, UNED, UPCT, CATAD, College of Veterinary, animal welfare, legal, technicians of the Department of Health, Council services and representatives of all political groups of the Municipal Corporation.
