All councils and various associations will be involved in the Municipal Plan Disability (19/02/2016)

Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejon, appeared this morning along with the Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, to report on the meetings held councilors and technicians of Social Services, Planning and Infrastructure, Employment and Trade, Decentralization and Celebration, Public Safety and Public Roads, Tourism, Culture, Sports, Youth, Education and Equality.

The meeting has also received the opinion and contributions of a total of 22 associations, social entities that are affected in one way or another the creation of the Municipal Plan Disability.

According to Deputy Mayor he has said, the aim of this meeting was to advance the electoral commitment to approve this plan, which has highlighted the wealth of contributions as well as its horizontal nature, covering all the departments.

Also, as explained Carmen Martin, this is a project that encompasses all types of disabilities, both sensory and cognitive;

ie universal access is sought. It plans to complete the necessary accessibility study for the month of June, so that from there can start with the Implementation Plan.

Also the mayor, Jose Lopez, said that this was the first step to reach the goal of creating a Municipal Ordinance Accessibility, time after which it will be mandatory advance address the problems of accessibility of all public spaces : both buildings, such as squares or sidewalks, and that will take more than its fair budget.

However, he noted that even that amount is not known, nor can be given an exact date on when that ordinance will run.

At the moment, there are relevant technical stationed at a first meeting to be held on 15 March.
