Cartagena hold its Gay Pride Day With the cooperation of the City, the Port Authority, neighborhood associations, trade unions and political parties, the group has organized Galactyco for the last weekend in a celebration intended to turn the city in (17/06/2010)

The celebration of Gay Pride Day is approaching, and for this reason, the Collective Galactyco has scheduled a series of activities will be developed in Cartagena from 25 to 27 June, roundtables, photo competition and, especially, lots of parties, for which they have enjoyed the cooperation of all institutions and forces of the city, including City Hall, Port Authority, Anti-AIDS Committee, neighborhood associations, trade unions and political parties.

In the presentation of the acts have been present Youth Councillor, Ruth Collins, and Galactyco president, José María García, who, accompanied by Dani Guirao, also a member of the group, stressed that the celebration is not only for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT), but for the entire city, we want to make gay concerning Spanish Southeast, especially considering there are only five other cities in Spain to hold a gay pride demonstration as that will take place in Cartagena this year, and are Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Valencia and Torremolinos.

The events begin on Friday June 25 with a panel discussion on Experiences in hiding, to be held at the Centro Cultural Ramón Alonso Luzzy to give way on Saturday 26 big day, I demonstrate the Gay Pride parade, which through the streets of downtown Cartagena end at the Port with the reading of a proclamation, and celebration with music and DJ "s until you drop.

Sunday June 27 the celebration will end with a meal of coexistence, cauldron for 200 people, on the campus of Carthaginians and Romans to a foam party as the climax.

In addition, it has been organized as part of Gay Pride LGBT a photo contest aimed at professional and amateur photographers, who must present papers on various forms of sexual orientation, possibly related to Cartagena and its surroundings.

This type of celebrations, which according to José María García were unthinkable in the not so distant, shows that progress has been made, although there are still things to do, especially in the field of education or legislation on transsexualism.

In this sense, the collective responsible Galactyco wanted to thank publicly the political support that have been occurring in recent times, as in the case of the municipal council, which recently passed unanimously a motion which stated the May 17 as the Day homophobia.
