[La Manga will have smart traffic lights to avoid traffic jams and 27 beaches with free Wi-Fi (03/02/2021)

| The La Manga 365 project begins its journey by improving mobility with the use of new technologies, and will establish synergies with the Sustainable Mobility Plan prepared by the City Council of Cartagena | La Manga begins to take steps to become an intelligent and digitized tourism benchmark through the use of new technologies, thanks to La Manga 365, a project included in the European Strategy for Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development (Edusi), and in whose presentation Official has participated this Wednesday, February 3, the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, together with the Minister of the Presidency and Finance, Javier Celdrán, the Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, and the regional director of Telefónica for Murcia and Alicante, José Manuel Grau. Based on three strategic axes: smart tourism, efficient mobility and citizen participation, these innovations will translate, for example, into the ability to immediately know the available parking spaces through a specific application on the mobile phone; the influx of people in different parts of La Manga; receive real-time traffic announcements, as well as event notifications and alerts; have detailed information on public transport, or have a WIFI network in 27 beaches and tourist spots, among other options. “Through new technologies we want to accelerate the tourist, social and economic development of La Manga, and make it an international benchmark for smart tourism.

Traffic problems in La Manga can improve with the implementation, for example, of reversible lanes, which are already contemplated in our Sustainable Mobility Plan ”, said the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo. The project aims to improve the mobility of La Manga with the use of new technologies, and it is the intention of the municipal government to establish synergies with one of the strategic projects of the legislature, the Sustainable Mobility Plan of the Cartagena City Council. A total of eight companies related to the ICT sector submitted proposals to the Ministry of Finance and the Presidency, of which Telefónica's offer was the most competitive.

Through this company, the Community will develop and have operational in 2023 the centralized management platform and the different services. La Manga 365 begins its journey in this first quarter of the year, and has 2.3 million euros, of the total 18.7 million budget, of which almost 15 come from the European Union and the rest will be paid with a regional budget item.
