[The works to replace the supply network of the Paseo de San Roque are completed (21/01/2021)

| The works, which were awarded at the end of November for 65,772.26 euros, also include the renovation of the public lighting and of the pavement | The renovation of the supply and sanitation networks in Canalejas street, located next to the Paseo de San Roque de Alums, has already been completed.

The works also include the renovation of the street lighting and the existing pavement. It should be remembered that a large part of the core of Alums is crossed by the Rambla de Escombreras, channeled under the Paseo de San Roque, which caused that in each new episode of rain the water accumulated in the surroundings of said street, already that the scuppers were insufficient and, furthermore, they were made of fiber cement.

Therefore, it was considered necessary to increase the number of entrances to the conduction of the promenade to recover its draining function. For this, the following actions have been carried out: - Execution of three transverse grids inside the Paseo de San Roque that will connect directly with the promenade by means of PVC connections. - Elimination of the existing grid at the confluence of Calle Parreta and Paseo de San Roque, over the pedestrian crossing. - Replacement of the transverse grille on Canalejas street with a new one with two PVC syphonic connections to also connect to the Rambla. - Two new longitudinal scuppers next to the curb of the promenade closest to the boulevard. Mayor Ana Beln Castejn explained that the works were awarded at the end of November for 65,772.26 euros, charged to the surplus of the water service concessionaire, and for its execution it has been contracted to 14 workers.

â € œThis infrastructure was as necessary as it was demanded by the residents of Alums, since it will prevent large accumulations of water from occurring again in the Paseo de San Roque area with each new episode of rain, â € ?? he stated. Taking advantage of the replacement of the connections, we have also proceeded to the renovation of both the pavement and the public lighting.

Thus, the sidewalk has gone from the 60 or 70 centimeters wide that it used to have to 1.80, which also meets the conditions of accessibility and non-discrimination for access and use of pedestrianized public spaces. As for public lighting, until now it had only one column, while currently two new columns have been installed to provide greater illumination on said sidewalk, with both IPSO 150W type luminaires with flow reducer and 8-meter columns with a 2.5-meter-high door.
