[Partido Cantonal de Cartagena: "The Autonomous Community fails to fulfill its promise to expand the Colegio San Crist bal" (18/12/2020)

| "Education reached an agreement with the parents for some works, now even more essential for the pandemic, which will be a reality this year and have not started "| Promises that the wind blows away and that are needed now more than ever.

The Ministry of Education and Culture reached a commitment two years ago with the Association of Parents of Students of the Colegio San Crist bal de El Boh o on the expansion of the school with completion date na throughout this year.

But, at this time when the safety distances resulting from the pandemic demand more space, not a single bricklayer has entered this pre-school and primary school.

The works have not started and, to make matters worse, the school's management team does not know a definitive architectural project in this regard.

The director of the San Crist bal School, Cati Garc a, confirms to the Cantonal Party of Cartagena that since before the confinement of March they lack any news about this much-needed intervention.

At present, three barracks continue in the courtyard that provisionally address the needs of the building site.

The Council's plan provided for the restructuring of the ground floor of the Primary pavilion with the transformation of the assembly hall and gym into four classrooms.

And, on the other hand, the construction of a new construction that would house two more classes of children, a new place for performances, a sports area and a dining room, a service now non-existent.

The parents of the students show their concern that the children continue in prefabricated classrooms with a smaller size than the conventional ones and that, therefore, present greater problems in the mandatory maintenance of a meter and a half of separation among students as a result of measures against covid-19.

In addition, the health rules of distancing have led the school management to convert the computer room and the psychomotor classroom into conventional classes.

The pandemic demands more space in this school in the San Crist bal neighborhood, which has been lacking in space for more than a decade.

"Ten years in which the Autonomous Community has dragged its feet and the appearance of the virus now makes the situation unsustainable," says the general secretary of the PCAN, Celestino García Alfaro.
