Cartagena City Council reinforces security measures for the December long weekend (03/12/2020)

| In the Local Security Board meeting this Thursday, December 3, the implementation of a special device has been established to control movements between municipalities and avoid crowds | The Local Security Board met this Thursday, December 3, under the presidency of the Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, with the assistance of the Deputy Mayor, Noelia Arroyo, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Pedro Torralba, the Commissioner of the national police of Cartagena, Damián Romero and who has had the presence by videoconference of the secretary general of the government delegation, Francisco Jiménez, with the aim of coordinating the security forces and bodies for the December long weekend and the Christmas holidays , paying special attention to the exceptional situation of the current health crisis.The councilor of the Citizen Security Area, Juan Pedro Torralba, has highlighted the Special Security Device that will be launched during the December bridge, which will begin this Friday, the 4th, in which both Local Police and Civil Protection, Firefighters and the Emergency Services of the Autonomous Community will work in a joint and coordinated manner to ensure "that all security measures are met," said the mayor.Torralba detailed that the Local Police service will reinforce their activity throughout the bridge in the morning, afternoon and night in the center of Cartagena, in order to prevent agglomerations from occurring again, as has happened in the last weeks during the "afternoon" in the main streets of the city.Likewise, surveillance will be implemented in coastal areas, since "it is anticipated that although the confinement between municipalities has not yet been lifted, there are many people with second homes on the beach and we know that these are areas that are going to be filled with people ", assured the mayor.In this sense, Juan Pedro Torralba explained that they are going to extend the surveillance shifts and that they have asked the Government Delegation and the Cartagena Police Commissioner, Emilio Juan Rodríguez Méndez, and the captains who run the municipal offices, to reinforce their services to work together carrying out police controls to supervise compliance with the perimeter confinement.
