| Minister Cristina Sánchez presents the 'Safe Tourism Certified' to the Auditorium and Conference Center 'El Batel' | 'El Batel' is one of the first congress centers in Spain to obtain this certification, together with 'Víctor Villegas' from Murcia The Ministry of Tourism, Youth and Sports is committed to certified quality in Cartagena, a city that has become one of the first in the Region to strengthen health safety in its museum, cultural and heritage spaces against Covid-19.

Cartagena's work to guarantee safe tourism and culture has earned it a total of 12 stamps awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality. The 'El Batel' Auditorium and Conference Center in Cartagena is among the first in Spain to obtain this certification, along with the 'Víctor Villegas' Auditorium in Murcia.

The Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez, chaired the ceremony for the delivery of the 'Safe Tourism Certified' certificate, "a seal that represents one more guarantee in the regional government's commitment to certified quality and to the MICE congress tourism segment ", said. "With this certification, 'El Batel' is endowed with a differentiating element for its facilities and, above all, it has the necessary means to guarantee an environment of safety, responsibility and trust for event organizers, clients, suppliers and workers", added. The Region of Murcia has 64 'Safe Tourism Certified' certificates (26 Tourist Offices, two Information Points, the maritime transport company 'ByF Ferrys', the Terra Natura Murcia Park, 14 beaches in San Javier, six in San Pedro del Pintar, six spaces in Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, the Cartagena City Hall, the Augusteum Temple in the port city, the Víctor Villegas Auditorium in Murcia, the Archena Spa with three of its hotels and 'El Batel'). Last year, 'El Batel' hosted 108 events with 39,484 attendees and 113 shows attended by 68,791 people.

After the state of alarm, 37 events and shows were held, attended by 3,500 citizens. Having this seal, said the counselor, "is one more guarantee to organize congresses and cultural events in the city of Cartagena, and transmits the concept of certified safe tourism through audit, which is a guarantee for visitors and for those, like in this case, they enjoy culture in a unique space, such as their auditorium ". Course for tourist office staff Cristina Sánchez also chaired the course organized by the Ministry aimed at technical staff of tourist offices to integrate the UNE-ISO 14785: 2015 standard in the quality management system of their offices. "The Q quality seal determines excellence in the provision of tourist information services and will allow destinations to prove that they have professional tourist information services approved by the European system," explained Sánchez. He also indicated that "this seal provides confidence in a certified service and thus contributes to differentiation, since the tourist and visitor will be the finalist of a service whose requirements are aimed at satisfying the needs of the user."
