The registration period for the XXIII edition of the Between Strings and Metals contest is open (23/11/2020)

| The format of the contest has been adapted to the new health situation, so the application for registration will be made through the electronic headquarters of the Cartagena City Council | The classical music contest Between Strings and Metals, organized by the Youth Council of the Cartagena City Council and the Cartagena Conservatory of Music, launches the XXIII edition for the 2020/2021 academic year, in which the honored composer will be Franz Liszt , since the 210th anniversary of his birth is commemorated.“Given that in the 2019/2020 academic year it had to be suspended, for the first time in the 23 years of the contest, as a result of COVID19, in this new edition the contest format has undergone some changes in order to adapt it to this new reality in which we are immersed and, thus, comply with the health regulations in force and with all the necessary security measures ”, explained the Councilor for Youth, David Martínez Noguera.For this reason, the content of the bases has been exceptionally restructured.

Thus, one of the most significant changes is that the request for participation will be made through the electronic headquarters of the Cartagena City Council.

The registration period begins today, November 23, ending on December 21, 2020.Regarding the modalities, the novelties of including in the 23rd edition the plucked instruments and the harp in the plucked string modality continue to be maintained, thus having 8 modalities:Piano.String (violin, viola, cello, double bass).Woodwind (transverse flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon).Metal Wind (trombone, trumpet, horn, tuba).Percussion.Pulsed String (classical guitar, flamenco guitar, stringed instruments, harp).Voice (lyrical song, song applied to dramatic art, flamenco singing).Chamber music.Students who are studying Professional Music Education, in any of the modalities called, born or who prove their residence in the Region of Murcia, as well as students who are studying music in any of the specialties called in any Center of Musical studies or Conservatories of the Region.

Those born or resident in the Murcia region will have to prove that they are enrolled in a Conservatory or Center for Musical Studies.

En Voz also opens participation to students from the Higher School of Dramatic Art of Murcia."Each of the modalities called will consist of two phases.

The first phase or Eliminatory will be carried out by presenting a recording in video format, while the second phase or Final phase will be done in person during the month of May, as long as the health situation allows it ”, has indicated the mayor.

Once the tests are finished, the results will be made public after the deliberations of the Juries of each of the modalities, in the same Auditorium of the Cartagena Conservatory, where all the auditions of the contest will be held in person, either behind closed doors or with the public that allowed, according to what the health authorities agree at that time.The amount of prizes amounts to 16,850 euros, establishing a first prize in each of the individual modalities of 1,300 euros and a second of 650 euros.
