The stairs of the Windlass are working again (22/11/2020)

| Along with the repair of the mechanical device that was affected by the DANA damages, a maintenance contract has been signed to ensure its correct operation at all times | The escalators to access the Molinete Archaeological Park have already been fixed and, in addition, a maintenance contract has been signed to ensure their correct operation at all times, to prevent them from being rendered useless again, as happened with the damage caused by the DANA past.

September 2019.The Councilor for Infrastructures of the Cartagena City Council, María Casajús, explained that “the works carried out have consisted of replacing the elements damaged by water and dragging, the antirust treatment of the elements of the pit and internal cleaning work, the verification of the entire set and its start-up, guaranteeing the safety of the users of the installation ”.This infrastructure was created to improve accessibility from the north of the archaeological park, which has access from the south through a system of ramps to comply with the accessibility criteria with which the recovery of the city's heritage has been addressed.“To complement the repair, the public lighting next to the stairs has been improved and they have been thoroughly cleaned, removing the existing graffiti on the glass side.

In addition, the small parterre located on the side has been raked along the entire route to avoid the detachment of small stones on the staircase.

In this way, not only the staircase but the entire environment is improved ”, concluded Casajús.
