| Virginia Martínez will lead the first concert of the Murcia Symphony Orchestra | The Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia (OSRM) begins this Thursday, November 12, a new season of subscription at the El Batel Municipal Auditorium in Cartagena.
The opening concert will be at 20:00 and will have as soloist Mario Calvo, main trombonist of the Symphony of the Region.For several seasons, many of the OSRM concerts have featured its own musicians, who perform as soloists and demonstrate their highest level to the public.
This is the case of the trombonist Mario Calvo, who will open the symphonic cycle with the 'Concerto for Trombone', by the Danish composer Launy Grondahl.
The recital also includes the 'Symphony No.
3 in A minor, Op.56', known as 'Scottish', by Felix Mendelsson,'The Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra in F minor' is a work written in 1924, romantic and full of drama, which has become a representation of the trombone repertoire since its premiere.
The composer dedicated it to his friend, the trombonist of the Royal Copenhagen Orchestra, Wilhelm Aarkrogh.
It is presented in a late romantic style and each of its three movements is built on two themes treated in a chromatic way. The concert will also include the 'Symphony No.
3 in A minor, Op.56', known as 'Scottish', by Felix Mendelsson, performed under the baton of Virginia Martínez.
'Escocesa' is impregnated with sonorous plasticity, motivated by the composer's clear intention to musically paint the environments of the northern country of the great British island as well as its characteristic folkloric echoes. No hand program will be distributed to avoid contagion, one of the many measures adopted by El Batel to be a safe space.
