| Castejón met this afternoon with neighborhood representatives to whom she has detailed all the municipal actions that will be carried out shortly | The mayor and councilor for Urban Planning of the Cartagena City Council, Ana Belén Castejón, and the councilor for the Infrastructure area, María Casajús, met today with the president, the secretary and a member of the Neighborhood Association of the Concepción neighborhood; Raúl Pastor Martos, José María Franco Conesa and José Balastegui Monzón, to explain the new accesses that will be built from Avenida del Cantón to guarantee both pedestrian and road communication between the neighborhood and the city center, as well as the infrastructures that are leaving.

to carry out to avoid possible floods. The mayor explained that the City Council has asked the developers of the Rambla Plan to carry out the urbanization works of Polígono 1, to guarantee the connection of the Barrio de la Concepción with said avenue, through Calle Rosa, which reaches to the health center, as well as Balcones, Nardos and Madreselva streets.

In addition, it has undertaken to study the possible connection with Calle Jacinto.“In this way, not only is the connection maintained, but it is improved, since the provisional access that existed until now did not meet the best conditions.

Now the streets will be expanded so that they have direct access guaranteeing all security measures.

These new accesses will be made immediately so that when the avenue opens to traffic they are already working ”, the mayor explained to the neighbors.Regarding the risk of flooding in the area with the construction of the new Avenida del Cantón, Castejón explained that it is planned to build a storm drain interceptor on Calle Peroniño and on those that connect this road with Calle Virgen del Romero, which will capture the rainwater that comes from the Watchtower. This project is scheduled to go to tender in early 2021 so that it can be executed next spring.Likewise, four sandboxes will be built, three of them at the intersection of Peroniño with Caserío Sevilla, Subida de los Pinos and Castilla a la Mota streets, and the fourth in Castillo Malpica, which will retain the dragging of the rain. This infrastructure will be added to the drainage to be carried out within the urbanization project of polygons I and II of the Rambla partial Plan.In addition, the immediate construction of new scuppers on Malvavisco street is planned, which will be connected, by means of a collector, to the rainwater network of the new urbanization and will flow into the Rambla de Benipila.Likewise, the execution of temporary drainage works is also planned immediately to avoid the accumulation of rainwater while the municipal project is not being executed."In this way, we intend to avoid the usual flooding of the basements of the La Rosaleda urbanization and in all the streets of the neighborhood," said the mayor. On the other hand, the construction of a bike lane segregated from road traffic is also planned.
