Social Services ensures the curfew for five homeless people (04/11/2020)

| The Department and the entities prepare the "cold campaign" to reduce risks and guarantee the protection of the most vulnerable people | Officials of the municipal Social Services accompanied by agents of the Local Police have made night tours in recent days through the municipality to prevent homeless people from staying on the street once the curfew has been decreed to guarantee their protection against possible infections, The deputy mayor and councilor for the Social Welfare Area, Noelia Arroyo, has reported."We have reinforced the care of homeless people with a unit made up of Social Services and Local Police officials to detect people who sleep on the street and offer them the possibility of being housed in the Hospitalidad de Santa Teresa." During the last day of attention on the street, “a total of five people were identified, one in the area of ??the Cartagonova Municipal Stadium and the rest in the center of the city, of which two of these people agreed to be transferred to the Hospitalidad de Santa Teresa ”, an institution with which the City Council maintains the contract for the temporary accommodation service for passers-by and homeless people.Arroyo has indicated that "normally night outings are made with the arrival of the cold, but in the face of the situation caused by COVID-19, actions have been advanced to offer these people the necessary security and hygiene measures during the pandemic" announced that the Department and social entities are already working to prepare the special Ola de Frio device to provide shelter for those who are on the street and accept their shelter.The vice mayor recalled that these measures are added to "the COVID Social Intervention network, which we have created together with Health to help quarantine people who do not do so for cultural or economic reasons.
