San Ginés will have a new roundabout to improve security at the intersection of Grecia Street with Jacinto Benavente (01/11/2020)

| The Department of Public Roads has awarded this new infrastructure for an amount of 35,972 euros and has an execution period of two months | The San Ginés neighborhood will soon have a new roundabout that has been designed to reinforce road safety at the intersection of Grecia and Jacinto Benavente streets.

The Department of Public Roads has awarded the construction of this new infrastructure for a total amount of 35,972'09 euros and has an execution period of two months. As the Councilor for Public Roads, Juan Pedro Torralba, has recalled, the crossing is located on one side of the premises of the San Ginés Neighborhood Association and on one of the main roads of the neighborhood "so it supports a large amount of vehicles on a daily basis and it becomes a bottleneck that slows down traffic ”.The work will consist of the construction of a roundabout with an outer diameter of 32 square meters, resulting in 2 traffic lanes.

Inside, a paving stone and artificial grass will be installed."In addition to building the roundabout, we are also going to adapt all the signage because our intention is to increase the security measures in the area, avoiding possible risks while improving the flow of traffic," Torralba explained. The new design of the area will involve the transfer of benches, bins and other urban furniture, as well as the elimination of the pedestrian crossing on Calle Jacinto Benavente, since stopping a vehicle in this area would affect the traffic of the roundabout.
