Santander grants excellence and practical training for students of the Polytechnic of Cartagena (28/10/2020)

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) today renewed its collaboration agreement with Banco Santander, which will pay this course for scholarships for students of excellence, for those who are starting in research and for those who are trained in the competition teams of the Polytechnic or in university management tasks. The agreement between both entities increases this year the amount for scholarships, which will allow the announcement of aid for new students with better grades and for those who maintain an academic level of excellence and have received a scholarship from the Ministry."The scholarship covers my expenses and I can focus on studying, without having to look for a job with which to pay the tuition," explains Industrial Technologies student Miguel Ángel Solano, who received a scholarship of 1,000 euros from Santander for his access notes to the College.

"I'm saving the scholarship to pay for postgraduate studies abroad," says Ana Belén Padrós, a student on the ADE bilingual program at the UPCT Faculty of Business Sciences.Seven students of the UPCT master's degrees will also be able to benefit from scholarships to initiate research, while a doctoral student will receive a scholarship for their research stay in the United Kingdom. In addition, Santander will grant scholarships to the members of the UPCT competition teams to cover their travel expenses to national and international competitions. The practical training of students with a view to their employability will also be reinforced with a score of training and collaboration grants in centers, departments and services of the University."The experience as a fellow of the Computing Service is helping me to learn more about web programming and have a first approach to the professional reality, with the ease of having a flexible schedule that I can combine with classes, practices, exams or tutorials ”, explains Sergio Carralero. The promotion of entrepreneurship is another of the objectives pursued by the agreement, which also finances training and research programs in entrepreneurship, managed by the Santander Chair - UPCT of Entrepreneurship. The agreement also includes the collaboration of Banco Santander with the university in the Smart University Card project, as an identification card based on chip technology.
