The Port-City commission analyzes the distribution of 100,000 euros in subsidies to non-profit institutions in Cartagena (22/10/2020)

| The mayor applauds the launch of this working committee, which will allow the Port Authority's aid to reach 45 this year groups of the municipality | A total of 45 non-profit institutions in Cartagena will benefit from the aid and subsidies that have been approved this Thursday, October 22, within the framework of the Port-City commission of the Cartagena City Council and the Port Authority.The commission, created at the proposal of the Consistory itself, will allocate a financial contribution from the Port Authority amounting to 100,000 euros and in which the City Council participates in the analysis of the distribution of funds.In this way, 75 projects of the 125 submitted to the call will benefit, after checking and reviewing the documentation sent by the associations and which include the programming of activities in educational centers or the acquisition of essential products by associations who work with vulnerable people and who due to the health crisis are being overwhelmed, even the organization of sporting, cultural and social events.For the distribution of the subsidies, the Commission has taken into account the exceptional circumstances experienced this year in relation to the state of alarm and the health crisis and those activities that involve the gathering of a considerable number of people, who would not comply, have not been evaluated.

On the other hand, for those actions that require an administrative authorization to be carried out, its justification is conditioned on said authorization.The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has applauded the work of this commission, whose launch was requested by the City Council.

"With this collaboration between the Cartagena City Council and the Port, we guarantee to reach all groups that need these subsidies", he valued."In these difficult times, due to the health crisis caused by Covid-19, the work of non-profit associations and groups in our municipality stands out even more, which provide assistance to the most vulnerable, as well as associations collective and cultural that contribute to the development of different socioeconomic areas of Cartagena.

With these subsidies they will be able to face different actions with greater guarantees and peace of mind ”, stated the mayor.For her part, the president of the Port Authority, Yolanda Muñoz, highlighted "the important role played by the associations and groups of the municipality, especially during the pandemic." At the same time, he stressed, “from the first moment we are trying to help the sectors, collectives, in short, the citizens who are experiencing the worst and are most vulnerable as far as we can.

At this time we understand that they have to be aimed at alleviating part of the effects of the socioeconomic crisis, a consequence of the coronavirus and, among others, it is intended for this prototype ".
