Under the premise of maintaining the commitment to work together so that the Cabo de Palos Lighthouse becomes an Interpretation Center, the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, received this Thursday, October 22, the spokesperson of the Platform Salvemos el Faro de Cabo de Palos, Gloria Moya, a meeting that was also attended by the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and the deputy mayor, Manuel Padín.A meeting in which the present and future of the Lighthouse have been discussed in depth and in which the mayor stressed that “the City of Cartagena is clear that the design of the future of the Lighthouse is done by all of us”, in addition to that “ Any political decision that is taken will go through the consensus and participation of the public and, more specifically, of the residents of Cabo de Palos.In this regard, the meeting recalled the Pact of the Arch, which in 2017 represented the support of both the City Council and the Regional Assembly, to the project to strengthen the public utility of the Lighthouse by turning empty rooms into an interpretation center Marine Reserves of Spain and the history of Cabo de Palos, as explained by Gloria Moya, who stressed that "the unanimity with which this Pact was agreed shows that this initiative is a good thing."Now the next step will be to draw up a roadmap to determine the steps to take, and the first of them will be to convey to the president of the Port Authority, the entity that owns the Lighthouse, the concern in this regard.
