MC will demand to improve road safety in La Aljorra (22/10/2020)

| And that the course of the Rambla will once again be a space for leisure and coexistence for residents | The Municipal Group MC Cartagena has announced the presentation of two initiatives, focused on the council of La Aljorra, which will be defended during the plenary session on October 29 to promote improvements in road safety and in the state of the course of the boulevard. The Cartagena formation responds to the concern expressed by neighbors such as Pedro Martínez Cerezuela, who on August 21 requested in the OMITA of La Aljorra that measures be taken to correct the serious road safety problem existing at the intersection between the streets of Vasco de Gama and Sebastián Caboto. This initiative comes after the occurrence, as the MC spokesperson, José López, has indicated, "up to three major accidents at that point in a single month." The mayor explained that "Vasco de Gama street has become a route of penetration towards the southeast part of La Aljorra, being straight and long enough for some drivers to exceed the speed limits, resulting in a high number of of accidents at said crossing ". To this situation must be added the difficulties in perceiving the existing vertical signage on Sebastián Caboto Street due to the poor condition of the give way located inside a narrow sidewalk. López will transmit to the Plenary the ideas proposed by the neighbors to provide solutions such as "the placement of several projections along Vasco de Gama street to force drivers to slow down, as well as the installation of another projection before the intersection on Sebastián Caboto Street, the visibility of the give way sign is renewed and improved and a mirror is located at the corner of number 2 of Sebastián Caboto itself to broaden the vision of drivers ", highlighting the need to act urgently in the security of this point, the Government adopting these ideas or those that the municipal technicians consider appropriate to avoid that this crossing continues to be "a black point of La Aljorra traffic." Improvements in the Rambla de La Aljorra Likewise, the Cartagena leader has advanced that the local government will be urged "to recover the previous state of the course of the Rambla de La Aljorra", which was enabled for recreational use by paving this space and preventing the circulation of vehicles along said track with the installation of metal arches. The councilor of MC has explained that "the lack of maintenance and the bad practices of some neighbors, who use this space for repairs of their vehicles, water bottle or track for spinning or skidding, has caused it to cease to be a safe environment, therefore that we will require the Government to adapt the trees and flowerbeds, increase surveillance and replace the metal arches or any other device that prevents the entry of vehicles, without hindering the passage of water in the episodes of rain.

" "Ultimately we will demand that the Government, contrary to what it did last week with the residents of La Aljorra, whom it tried to deceive with a game of trileros both with the Plenary of contamination and with the new school, take carry out these actions that do have the objective of improving the quality of life of Aljorreńos and not of making empty propaganda at their expense ", José López concluded.
