"Reto Pelayo Vida" stops at the Port of Cartagena (21/10/2020)

Every year, 5 cancer survivors make dreams and goals that seemed unattainable come true, carrying out a great challenge in some of the most remote places on the planet and led by great figures from the country's scientific and sports scene. Today the ship has docked in Cartagena where family, friends, the president of the Real Club de Regatas, councilor Manuel Padín, the director of the APC, Fermín Rol, the president of the APC, Yolanda Muñoz, have wanted to greet the Cartagena Lorena Madrid Rubio, partner and athlete of the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena, which this year is one of the five sailors in the 'Reto Pelayo Vida', going around Spain on a Volvo V70 sailboat. This year, the project organization has decided to stay home and show its support and solidarity with the people who have suffered and are suffering the consequences of the virus. The five expeditionaries of the Pelayo Vida Vuelta España 2020 Challenge are: Marián de Elche, Lorena de Cartagena, Fátima de Jerez, María de Barakaldo and Nuria de Teruel.

The expeditionaries are five brave women who have overcome cancer and have now made the decision to change their lives and face the Pelayo Vida Challenge to put their bodies and minds to the limit with several objectives: to prove to themselves that after overcoming cancer the life can be resumed normally; make the disease visible to help other women in the same situation, make opinion leaders aware of the importance of investing in cancer research and convey to society about the benefits of leading a healthy life and doing physical exercise to prevent any type of illness. The president, Yolanda Muñoz, has indicated that "five women who have overcome this disease are traveling the Spanish coast giving voice and visibility to the real possibility of dominating breast cancer and being happy after defeating it.

They launch a message of hope to women who have suffered or are currently suffering from it and encourage them to overcome the disease.

Having Lorena Madrid from Cartagena among the crew this year is a source of pride for all of us and also a stimulus to overcome difficulties ".
