La Mar de Músicas wins the award for the festival with the best cultural programming in Spain at the Iberian Festival Awards (18/10/2020)

| The ceremony, in which the 2019 festivals were awarded, was held online last night after being postponed twice by the pandemic | The Sea of ??Music was held last night, Saturday, October 17, with the award for the Festival with the Best Cultural Program in Spain, at the Iberian Festival Awards; awards that recognized the work and programming of the festivals in Spain and Portugal held in 2019.

The ceremony that took place last night via the Internet, after being postponed twice by the pandemic, thus recognizes the parallel activities of the Cartagena festival, which every year, in addition to music, he brings art, cinema and literature from his guest country.

In 2019, La Mar de Músicas held a Portugal Special. Organized by the Cartagena City Council, La Mar de Músicas already had an Iberian Festival Awards.

In 2018, in Lisbon, Paco Martín and José Luis Cegarra, creators and directors of La Mar de Músicas, received the award for Best Small Format Festival of 2017. This was the third time that the Cartagena contest was a finalist in these awards that are awarded to the best festivals, artists, sponsors and the media from all over the Iberian Peninsula, thanks to the votes of the public and an official jury.

On this occasion, La Mar de Músicas was up for the awards: best small-format festival, best cultural program of a festival and greatest contribution to sustainability. The Iberian Festival Awards were traditionally included in the framework of Talkfest, a congress that was intended to be a meeting point for professionals in the sector to reflect, through a series of conferences and round tables, on the state of the music industry, both at national and international level to be held during the month of March in Lisbon.

This year it was postponed twice, until the organization decided to present the awards at a gala over the Internet. La Mar de Músicas 2019 made a Special Portugal, in which it celebrated its 25th edition and in its cultural program, which has been awarded on this occasion, it featured films by Portuguese filmmakers such as Miguel Gomes, Rita Azevedo, Ivo M at La Mar de Cine Ferreira, Pedro Costa, José Fonseca or the patriarch Manoel de Oliveira.

The Mar de Letras had as guests the writers Lídia Jorge, Afonso Cruz, Gonçalo M.

Tavares and Dulce Mª Cardoso.

For its part, La Mar de Arte exhibited Valter Vinagre, Andre Vicente Gonçalves and featured urban art by Frederico Draw, Rodrigo Contra and JR.
