Youth and Social Services organize a Food Collection Campaign for the most needy groups in Cartagena (16/10/2020)

| It will be the Youth Associations themselves that will be in charge of this initiative that will be carried out on October 23 and 24 through collection established in supermarkets and in the Youth Council | The Department of Youth and the Department of Social Services of the Cartagena City Council, in collaboration with the Youth Associations of the municipality, organize a Food Collection Campaign for the benefit of the Cartagena Food Bank, which will take place on October 23 and 24 .The councilor for the Youth area, David Martínez Noguera, explained in the presentation of the campaign, which took place this Friday, October 16 at the Town Hall, that "the main objective is to collect as much non-perishable food as possible to supply the Food Bank, and that this in turn can take it to the most needy groups and families ".The Food Collection Campaign will take place on Friday, October 23 from 4:00 p.m.

to 8:00 p.m.

and on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 a.m.

to 1:00 p.m.

and in the afternoon from 4:00 p.m.

to 8:00 p.m.

00 hours, "dates that coincide with the traditional celebration of the Youth Associations meeting which, for health reasons this year will not be held, but which will not prevent us from having that youth associative spirit so deeply rooted in our city", highlighted David Martínez .There are 25 youth collectives and 11 Scout groups from the municipality of Cartagena who have joined this campaign that "will install information points in their areas of action, proposing various collaboration formulas, installing collection points in supermarkets in the neighborhood and making an appeal to citizen collaboration ", pointed out the mayor.In addition, the Youth Council will install a collection point at the main door of its building during the morning and Saturday afternoon, managed by the volunteer from the Implica2 Program.With initiatives like this, the youth who regularly participate in volunteer activities "want to highlight the values ??that characterize youth, who are committed to the reality that surrounds them," concluded Martínez Noguera.For her part, the delegate councilor of the Social Services area, Mercedes García, recalled that "the Department of Social Services has led the Emergency Operation launched as a result of the State of Alarm that, once this state of emergency has ended, has it has also been the one that has organized the present and the future of this supply of food to needy families in Cartagena, placing its trust in the Cartagena Food Bank, "the mayor highlighted.The campaign presentation was also attended by Isabel Mª Martínez Castillo, representative of the Scout Group 'Exploradores de Murcia', who expressed her gratitude to the Cartagena City Council for having its participation in this campaign, since "one of the most important tasks that we do is related to social action and volunteering, therefore, this initiative is very much in line with our values ??".The president of the Food Bank in Cartagena, Juan Gómez Ayala, also expressed his appreciation to the City Council for the support provided, as well as to the Food Bank volunteers.
