The Assembly demands to the Government of Spain the location in Cartagena of a Reserve and Security Group of the Civil Guard before the massive arrival of boats (14/10/2020)

The PP vice spokesman accuses the government delegate of "selling smoke" and recalls that the Interior Ministry has announced that "it does not plan to build new permanent infrastructures to accommodate immigrants. The plenary session of the Regional Assembly has demanded from the Government of Spain the location in Cartagena of a Reserve and Security Group (GRS) of the Civil Guard due to the massive arrival of boats to the coasts of the Region in recent months.

A requirement included in a motion of the Popular Party that has come forward with the votes in favor of PP, Ciudadanos, Vox and with the vote against PSOE and Podemos. Guardiola who has expressed his "solidarity with the humanitarian drama experienced by immigrants" and "support" for the State Security Forces, maritime rescuers and NGOs that "risk their lives daily to save them." The vice spokesman for the PP has estimated 2,500 people who have already reached "our shores, 74% more than the previous year." And he added that the "uncontrolled wave of boats has been caused by the incompetence of the central government and the resignation of government delegate functions." Guardiola recalled "the chain of irregularities" that have occurred such as "lack of compliance with the protocols and the Immigration Law", "the lack of troops, resources and logistics" to attend to migrants and "their flight" having to quarantine.

And he referred to "the unsustainable situation experienced by" the police officers who have denounced "the precarious conditions in which they work, criticizing the risk involved in guarding the migrants who arrive and demanding more means and human resources," he said.

Guardiola has insisted that the ministry has not yet responded to two fundamental questions "if it is going to increase the police force and if it intends to build a CATE." And he has asked for "answers and solutions to a matter that is the exclusive competence of the State."
