Health reinforces its services to put an end to the proliferation of rodents in Cartagena (14/10/2020)

| This Tuesday a technical meeting was held on deratization to implement the relevant measures, focusing on parks and gardens | The adoption of measures to put an end to the proliferation of rodents in the municipality of Cartagena, was the key theme of the technical meeting for deratization that was held this Tuesday, October 13 at the City Hall.

Chaired by the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Health Area, Manuel Padín, it was attended by technicians from the Decentralization, Health, Infrastructures, Parks and Gardens area, members of the Local Police and staff from the municipal deratization companies and of Hidrogea."We are facing a real problem that is not only a municipal issue, but affects globally.

We have held this summit to immediately implement all the measures adopted, although all the services and concessionaires have been working on the control of rodents constantly, as with other pests, "said the deputy mayor. In this sense, the mayor explained that they are going to "reinforce all services to cut their proliferation as soon as possible, focusing on areas where we have seen more rodent settlements, such as parks and gardens." Padín pointed out that these are places that families and minors use for their leisure, "so all the measures we adopt will be with the maximum security so that there are no poisonings or problems derived from the treatments."Among other actions is the increase in actions by municipal concessionaires, with new baits and rodenticides; as well as an information campaign with advice to citizens to avoid the proliferation of rodents, such as the safe deposit of garbage in containers and not on public roads. Farmers have also committed to a close collaboration to avoid accumulation of plastic and crop debris in the fields that can generate outbreaks of rats that later move to urban centers in search of food.
