A file on the 1918 flu is the Municipal Archive document of the month (14/10/2020)

| As for the video of the month, it features images of the old El Almarjal football stadium, taken in 1976 | The Municipal Archive of Cartagena has chosen as the document of the month a file related to the 1918 flu.

Specifically, it deals with the correspondence between the city of Cartagena and the Civil Government on the flu epidemic. The 1918 flu, also known as the Spanish flu, was a pandemic caused by an outbreak of the influenza A virus of the H1N1 subtype.

Unlike other influenza epidemics that mainly affect children and the elderly, its victims were also young and healthy adults. On the other hand, regarding the video of the month, a recording of the El Almarjal stadium in 1976, belonging to the Rafael Plazas Espinosa Fund, has been selected. The soccer field was inaugurated on September 19, 1925, with a match between Cartagena and Valencia CF.Its capacity was approximately 12,000 people and regarding the size of the playing field, it was 110 meters by 74 meters wide. The stadium was demolished in the 1980s, since in 1988 the Cartagonova was inaugurated, the field where Fútbol Club Cartagena plays its home games.
