The elderly of Cartagena will have a daily workshop through social networks (12/10/2020)

| Social Services adapts all its programming to maintain the offer safely | The autumn programming for the elderly designed by the Department of Social Services this year includes a daily video that, from this Tuesday, will be distributed through social networks to maintain the offer of leisure, health and culture despite the distance imposed by the health situation .The videos will be distributed from Monday to Friday through the profiles of the Cartagena City Council and, in a personalized way, through whatsapp for the elderly who request it.

"All the workshops will be developed by the usual monitors, to whom the elderly will be able to continue making their inquiries," according to the Deputy Mayor and head of Social Services, Noelia Arroyo.“Our technicians have made an effort to keep the entire program that is designed to keep our greatest physically and psychologically active going.

That is why we have organized the offer that our elders want and that is made by the monitors they know and trust.

They can do it by Whats App, which is the way that most prefer.

In fact we already have 300 seniors in our groups for the workshops ”, explained Arroyo.The deputy mayor recalls that the elderly without tablets, computers or smart phones can join the telecommuting program that the City Council launched at the beginning of the lockdown: “the pandemic is forcing us all to adapt and change routines.

This adaptation is necessarily more rigorous when it comes to our elders, who are the most vulnerable part of the population, but we continue to offer them company and keep at their disposal all the offer that they demand of us ”.The workshops serve to help the elderly to maintain healthy habits, improve memory, nutrition or personal safety.

They also include cultural proposals, physical exercise and crafts so that they can enjoy quality leisure.The daily schedule will take place from October 13 with the following contents:HEALTHY MONDAYSEvery Monday, videos will be broadcast on various, current and practical topics for the day-to-day functioning of everyday life, mainly through talks on health, food and nutrition, healthy habits, sleep disorders, consumption, safety ...

.CULTURAL TUESDAYEvery Tuesday we will carry out two workshops:Reading Workshop, where this quarter the book will be discussed: "Happiness is a tea with you" by Mamen Sánchez.

This workshop will be interactive so your registration is essential.Workshop: A walk through the city, also on Tuesdays you can discover, know or simply remember the city of Cartagena, through talks and virtual guided tours: museums, monuments, stories, gastronomy, etc.CREATIVE WEDNESDAYS"Crafts workshop" Crafts have more benefits than you can imagine, in addition to occupying a part of free time they serve to promote creativity, patience, order, mobility, essential qualities to age actively.

For this reason, a video will be broadcast every Wednesday about an easy craft with affordable materials mainly from recycled materials.REMEMBER THURSDAY "Memory training workshop".
