MC: Cartagena, without flu vaccination plan (08/10/2020)

| María José Soler: "The only response from the local government is inaction" | "We hope that Area II will also have the dose increase announced for Murcia" Just two days ago, the Murcia City Council announced that, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, this municipality will have up to 75 thousand doses for the flu vaccination campaign, increasing considerably compared to the previous year in which they had about 45 thousand doses. It should be mentioned that the flu vaccination by the Murcian Health Service (SMS) will start shortly (October 13), and the Government of Cartagena, contrary to what happened in Murcia, has not offered any data on the campaign in our municipality. The councilor of MC Cartagena, María José Soler, has expressed her concern as it is "a special year in which the importance of getting vaccinated against the flu is emphasized to avoid that it does not coincide with a re-outbreak of COVID-19, in addition to avoid complications derived from the flu, especially in people at risk.

So we hope that the increase in vaccine doses announced by the SMS will also reach Area II ". Soler recalled the situation in Cartagena.

"The clinics are already undergoing high pressure, and it would be irresponsible to allow it to increase.

On the other hand, many of these clinics, a total of eight, are still closed, while a dozen maintain reduced hours." "From MC we are concerned because in the face of this delicate situation we find the inaction of the Government team.

To this day, and despite the fact that several neighborhood associations have offered their premises as a vaccination point, the local Executive has not contacted with the Ministry of Health to offer premises, so we fear that vaccination points are limited, when it should be a priority to seek differentiated spaces with respect to the current pandemic situation, as is already being claimed by nursing unions to guarantee safety of professionals and patients ". María José Soler added that this whole situation must be added "that the Murcian Health Service has not yet defined the schedule for vaccination, and it remains unknown whether it will be divided into time slots according to the characteristics and situation of the patient, such as recommended by professionals, which makes us fear that there is no vaccination plan for Health Area II and the increased dose that is announced for Murcia is also at risk ". "This is what we have for Cartagena, irresponsibility and unpredictability, that is the security and stability that the fifteen brave men and women of the municipal government team promised us," the Cartagena councilor concluded.
