City Council and FADE Foundation meet to promote volunteer programs with the elderly (06/10/2020)

| The councilor delegate for Social Services, Mercedes García, technicians from the Department and managers of the Fade Foundation held a meeting this Monday with the aim of continuing to help the most vulnerable older people | This health crisis severely affects older people.

They are the most vulnerable and must avoid maintaining contact with other people, which increases the feeling of loneliness for many of them.

For this reason, the councilor delegate for Social Services, Mercedes García, accompanied by technicians from the Department, have held a meeting with those responsible for the FADE Foundation with the aim of promoting volunteer programs with older people.“It is important to remember that this foundation has already participated in the tele-accompaniment program promoted by the Department of Social Services in March.

In total, 24 volunteers from the Fade Foundation attended by telephone to elderly people who had problems of loneliness ”, indicated the delegate mayor of Social Services, Mercedes García.“From the Fade Foundation and the City Council we want to continue joining forces to serve the most vulnerable older people.

This stage that we are going through is hard for everyone but for the elderly it is even harder.

For this reason, we want to help them through new emotional support projects aimed at alleviating loneliness and improving their mood ”, explained the mayor.
