New increase in unemployment in September in the countryside of Cartagena (05/10/2020)

By sectors, unemployment in September increased in agriculture especially (+ 5.6%) and also in services and in the group without previous employment, while it decreased in industry (-1.2%) and construction (-2.5% ). By municipalities, the number of unemployed increased in most of those in the Region, except in Fuente Álamo, where it fell by 1.5%.

The largest percentage increases in the number of unemployed in September were found in Loa Alcázares (+ 10.1%), San Pedro del Pinatar (+ 7.1%), and San Javier (+ 4.2%).

In Cartagena there was an increase of 1.7% in the ranks of unemployment. The increase in registered unemployment during the month of September 2020 in the Region (+ 2.8%) was not as marked as that experienced in September 2019 (+ 4.8%), nor did it exceed the average increase in unemployment in the months of September of the last 10 years (+ 4.2% for the period 2010-2019).

The number of registered unemployed in the Cartagena Region increased in September by 7,318 people compared to the same month of the previous year, September 2019, representing an increase of 27.8%.

The largest percentage increases in the number of signed contracts were found in La Unión (+ 137.6%), Fuente Álamo (+ 107.7%), and Cartagena (+ 59.3%). The interannual hiring fell in the Murcia Region as a whole by 14.8%, 3.2 pp more than in the Cartagena Region. By municipalities, and always in inter-annual terms, the number of contracts signed in September 2020 increased in Fuente Álamo (+ 35.2%), Mazarrón (+ 4.2%) and San Javier (+ 3.2%), and it decreased in the rest, especially in La Unión (-34.6%), San Pedro del Pinatar (-38.6%) and Cartagena (-17.5%). In terms seasonally adjusted, unemployment decreased in the region in September 2020 by 1.0%.

De los contratos firmados en septiembre de 2020 en la Comarca, el 92,3% fueron temporales.
