The Polytechnic of Cartagena attracts 12% more new students, the highest increase in its history (02/10/2020)

All Engineering and Architecture degrees have registered an increase in enrollment compared to last year and new degrees have been the most demandedThe UPCT has registered the largest increase in the number of new student enrollments since its foundation in 1998.

The increase compared to last year is 12%, a rise in figures not seen so far in the Polytechnic of Cartagena. The extraordinary enrollment phase, after the September EBAU, has concluded this week at the UPCT with places sold out in more degrees than ever.

Especially in demand have been the careers that this course opens at the Polytechnic: the degree in Industrial Design and Product Development and the joint program that allows this degree to be taken at the same time as Mechanical Engineering.

The degree in Industrial Chemical Engineering has also had a waiting list and, likewise, with no available places, the engineering degrees in Industrial Technologies and Mechanics and the degree in Fundamentals of Architecture have remained. In addition, they have fully or almost completely covered their offer of places, but still have room to admit a few students after the deadline, the degrees of Industrial Electronic and Automatic Engineering, Telematics Engineering, Telecommunication Systems Engineering, Agri-Food Engineering and Biological Systems and Naval Architecture and Marine Systems Engineering.

In fact, all Architecture or Engineering degrees have seen an increase in new students."Technical careers are increasingly in demand by employers due to the change of time that the new technological revolution is generating," explains the Vice-Rector for Studies, Juan Ángel Pastor. The data on new students at the UPCT consolidate the trend towards the recovery of the attractiveness of scientific-technical education, whose enrollments were reduced throughout the Spanish university system during the last decade.
