MC: The regional government continues to grant hidden subsidies to the sport of Murcia and discriminated against Cartagena (02/10/2020)

| Costa Cálida will once again sponsor the basketball team of the city of Murcia | About last year, Ricardo Segado points out that "without attendance or any public call, the regional Executive released half a million euros to Murcian clubs and zero to Cartagena" This past September, the sponsorship agreement between the UCAM Murcia basketball club and the CARM Tourism Department was announced, through which said team will once again benefit financially from the sponsorship of the Costa Cálida brand, a situation that gives continuity to the systematic discrimination of San Esteban to the elite clubs of Cartagena and Comarca, as well as the rest of the Region. Along these lines, the councilor of MC Cartagena and the head of Sports for the Cartagena formation, Ricardo Segado, has indicated that "the Autonomous Community granted, last year, 500,000 euros to two elite clubs in the city of Murcia through two contracts of sports sponsorship through the Tourism Institute, a body that has a budget coming directly from regional public accounts ". To do this, "the regional government avoids transparency and the publication of public calls in order to prevent any of the elite clubs (outside the municipality of Murcia) that today compete in the main national leagues from being eligible for these amounts." Segado explained that "during the last season, the basketball and futsal clubs of the city of Murcia received 300,000 and 200,000 euros respectively, signing contracts with the public entity of very dubious justification.

So dubious that it is the Institute of Tourism is the one that leaves the justification for these disguised subsidies in the hands of the clubs, with subjective and superficial arguments, justified as sponsorship contracts, but without an effective control of the fulfillment of the obligations of the clubs ". Faced with this situation, the mayor of MC has asked "Against whom do these clubs compete when opting for these public aid? It is clear that against anyone." Ricardo Segado has defined the situation by summarizing that "they cook it and they eat it, leaving out of the menu clubs of the stature of Jimbee Cartagena (which is in the same category as the Murcian futsal club) or the Fútbol Club Cartagena, recently promoted to Second Division, being the sports entity in the Region with the greatest social following and the highest advertising visibility and profitability. "We have also denounced, and will continue to do so, that the regional government ignores the efforts of elite women's clubs such as the Algar Surmenor volleyball club, or the STV Roldán futsal, which are not lucky enough to show off the Costa Cálida advertising with the help that this entails, "added the Cartagena councilor. It should be remembered that MC has presented this year initiatives to the Plenary, being approved both in January and July, to demand an equitable and proportional distribution of the sponsorship games of Costa Cálida, including in the distribution to elite clubs of our region. Ricardo Segado concluded by concluding that "from MC we categorically reject this type of contract, which once again represents a more than evident discrimination against the rest of the clubs in the Cartagena Region and the Region.

The most fair, equitable and transparent formula is that There is an annual public call from the corresponding Ministry, to which those clubs that meet objective and established requirements can opt.

In this way we can say that we have something for the Government of San Esteban, which has been strangling Cartagena for decades, its main focus tourism and sports in the Region today.
