Designs a City of Justice with a juvenile and commercial court for Víctor Beltrí Avenue (01/10/2020)

| The infrastructure projected by the graduate in Architecture from the UPCT would centralize and expand the spaces for judicial administration in Cartagena | Functionality presides over the Ciudad de la Justicia project for Cartagena, which has designed the new degree in Architecture by UPCT Ubaldo Fernández Díaz with the aim of "contributing my grain of sand to promoting a necessary infrastructure for the city and its region".A double set of routes to differentiate the accesses of the public and of the judicial and police authorities and spaces for interaction to structure the different rooms characterize the project, with about 20,000 square meters of built area, to which would be added an access plaza from Víctor Beltrí avenue, almost at the height of the city's ring road."I have chosen to place the design in Sector CC-1, because it is the one that was originally planned and because it is almost a blank canvas where I could also count on changes in heights," explains the recently graduated student from the University Polytechnic of Cartagena. His Final Degree Project, directed by Professor Pedro Jiménez, responds to a citizen demand.

"I wanted to do something useful and interesting for society," says the former student, who makes himself available to institutions interested in the City of Justice project.

The work and all its plans and details can be consulted in the UPCT Academic Repository."The design includes the demands and needs of the Administration of Justice in the judicial district of Cartagena contemplated in the Manifesto for the City of Justice, such as a juvenile court, a commercial court and other new judicial dependencies," says Ubaldo Fernández, who knows first-hand the judicial deficiencies of the region since his mother is a lawyer. The academic work includes a comparison of the judicial bodies per inhabitant in which it can be seen that the Region of Murcia is the third with the lowest endowment and that Cartagena has twice the population per court than the judicial district of Murcia.
