The City Council of Cartagena adds to its cultural program the cycle "Classics in museums" (30/09/2020)

| A program designed to rethink the museums of the port city musically and which begins its journey at the Archaeological Museum on October 13 | Cartagena City Council launches a new cultural program.

Designed to rethink the city's museums musically, 'Classics in Museums' aims to complement the exhibition work of Cartagena's centers and venues, with classical music concert cycles.

The first program of 'Classics in museums' will take place at the Cartagena Archaeological Museum, and will begin this October 13 with the Cartagena String Quartet and the performance of the Cartagena saxophonist Francisco José Franco Vidal. "Beyond the great exhibition work that our museums have, we believe that it is important to stimulate, even more without space, these spaces with programs that allow to attract more public and make the stay of our visitors more attractive", he highlighted, in the presentation of the cycle, the Councilor delegate for Culture of the City of Cartagena, Carlos Piñana.In this presentation he also pointed out that: “The first edition of this cycle will be held in one of the most emblematic spaces of our city, the Archaeological Museum.

A museum with a historical and patrimonial legacy that allows creating the right atmosphere to host the experience of listening and feeling the expression and character of music and musicians from different origins ”.

With this cycle "we are going to enjoy the work of great composers of the Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, Nationalism and we will appreciate other more contemporary styles such as flamenco".“With this program we are committed to a culture of experiences that offers tools not only for leisure, but also for learning and reflection, with the aim of bringing museums closer to other audiences, collaborating in constructing a different image of the traditional ”added the Councilor for Culture.TICKETSTo attend the concerts, it is necessary to withdraw a prior invitation on the web museoarqueológico.cartagena.es The first day will be on Tuesday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m., with a double program that will begin Cartagena String Quartet, the string quartet by Javier Valero (violin) and Pablo Roca (violin), Pablo Arnau (viola) and Jaime Berruezo (cello).

He will be followed by the Cartagena saxophonist Francisco José Franco Vidal, with his project 'QUO VADIS' where he will show new interpretative proposals around the saxophone.  PROGRAMThe second appointment of the cycle, Tuesday October 20, will feature the participation of Paola Requena and Víctor Bravo with the guitar recital “Time for reflection and inspiration”.

Both form the guitar duo Contrastes, and since they met in their formative years in Paris, they have performed in many countries of the European Union.

To the interpretation of classic works, they have added their compositions, where they demonstrate how the virtuosity and cleanliness in Paola's playing, perfectly combines with the persuasive and rasgados style, of her years of approach to flamenco, of Víctor. Music and Poetry or vice versa.

Different ways of expressing feelings, emotions ...

artistic disciplines that reach the listener and offer imaginary worlds will be the proposal on Tuesday October 27 at the Archaeological Museum and which will have as protagonists the rhapsodist Cristina Sánchez Rivas and the prestigious guitarist José Luis Ruiz del Port.

A poetic-musical recital that will take a tour of authors such as Lorca, Clara Fuentes, Miguel Hernánez, Lucía Boscá under the title 'The words sound, the sounds speak'On Thursday, October 29, the fourth of the concerts of this first cycle will take place.

A recital of works inspired by the Arab heritage and popular music of Andalusia, which under the title of 'Noche Andaluza' will unite the classical guitar of Isabel Martínez and the cello of Marta Requena; both born in Cartagena. The excellent guitarist Pedro Navarro, accompanied by Lluis Castañ, will offer the concert 'Dedos con duende' on Friday 6th November.

Navaro is one of the most promising musicians in our country, thanks to breaking the conventional parameters of the guitar, being able to fuse flamenco, jazz, Latin and classical music.Close the cycle, Nima Sarkechik, who will arrive in Cartagena from France to close the first cycle of 'Classics in the Museum', and does so thanks to the collaboration with the Alliance Française of Cartagena and the Embassy of France in Spain, which have joined efforts with the Cartagena Department of Culture to develop a very special action in Cartagena that is taking place in a few cities in Argentina, Switzerland, China or the US.

Thus, the French-Iranian pianist Nima Sarkechik, will carry out on November 9 an artistic residency under the project "Urban Brahms" with which he will forge the work of the universal German composer, with artists of urban styles from Cartagena, putting the figure of Brahms in the crosshairs of different disciplines.

The final result can be seen on the 10th at the Archaeological Museum,together with the piano recital that Sarkechick will offer. The Cartagena City Council is making, with this and other proposals, a determined commitment to Safe Culture, and has been betting on cultural programs since the summer, adapted to times of coexistence with covid-19, with reduced capacity, hygiene measures and safety, mandatory use of a mask, contingency plans ... This cycle, organized and programmed by the Cartagena City Council, has been sponsored by Hidrogea and with the collaboration of the Alliance Française of Cartagena, the French Embassy in Spain and the Andalusian Parliament bar.
