The City Council and the Ministry of Business meet with the merchants of the municipality (22/09/2020)

| The objective of this meeting is to continue knowing the current needs of the sector caused by the health crisis and to inform about the initiatives that are being carried out to help the trade | The Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and Minister of Business, Industry and Spokesperson, Ana Martínez Vidal.Accompanied by the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Commerce, Manuel Padín, and the General Director of Commerce and Business Innovation, Mª José Ros Olivo, they held a meeting this afternoon with representatives of the municipality's business associations, with the aim of continue to know the current needs of the sector due to the health crisis caused by COVID19, as well as inform about the initiatives that are being carried out to promote local commerce. “Just ten days ago we met to present one of the projects that we have launched from the ADLE and the Department of Commerce to encourage online sales, the Cartagena Market platform, which is having a great reception.

This shows that our trade is more alive than ever, more willing to face difficulties with integrity and to overcome whatever barriers are in the way.

For this reason, I want to thank you for supporting this initiative ”, said the first mayor.Castejón has highlighted the importance of the unit to overcome this situation and has recalled some of the measures and tools that have been implemented by the City Council to help the sector.“If it was important to face the first stake of the crisis with direct aid, such as exemption from payment of water and garbage bills, exemption from paying terraces or expanding them, now we are taking a further step , helping our merchants to specialize, modernize and promote electronic commerce ”, the mayor stressed.Another tool that has been promoted by the City Council to help the sector overcome this situation has been the creation of a Business Advisory Office in the Local Development and Employment Agency, to address legal, labor, fiscal or financial issues , among other measures.For her part, the Minister of Business, Industry and Spokesperson, Ana Martínez Vidal, has made known to the representatives of the different associations of merchants in the municipality, the aid launched by the Institute of Development of the Region of Murcia, such as the Covid-Commerce Line, which mobilizes up to 10 million euros, covering the cost of the guarantee and facilitating access to financing for merchants.Along the same lines as the Consistory, Martínez Vidal has highlighted that "the main objectives that we want to achieve from the General Directorate of Commerce and Business Innovation are to promote digitization and innovation in the commerce sector, its professionalization and, of course, to put into it runs programs and actions to encourage local consumption through revitalization actions in the municipalities ”.During the meeting, the creation of an 'online' electronic commerce platform was also addressed to offer visibility to the products of merchants in the Region of Murcia.
