The Los Moros Castle rehabilitation project goes one step further with the geotechnical surveys (18/09/2020)

| The works that the city council has been carrying out this week on the west face of the fortification will serve to determine the characteristics of the subsoil and address the consolidation of the wall | The Cartagena City Council continues to comply with its forecasts in the rehabilitation works of the Los Moros Castle, in this case with the geotechnical surveys at the foot of the north curtain of the castle, specifically the west face of the fortification, which are coming taking place during this week.Once the soundings have been carried out, the characteristics of the subsoil can be determined in order to be able to proceed with the technical guarantees necessary for the consolidation of said wall.This intervention is part of the works planned from the Archaeological Heritage Area in the fortress for this quarter, where different actions of cleaning, documentation and consolidation of the structures are contemplated, prior to a complete study that allows a better understanding of the Castle.

of construction, which were developed between 1773 and 1778.It responds to the type of Obra Coronada, with a central bastion and two half bastions at the ends, joined by curtains, which is completed with a dry moat on the eastern side and a perimeter wall that protects the north bastion.The castle was equipped with 18 cannons and 200 men, leaving the artillery positions to the outside and free of defenses towards the city walls, since its purpose was to act as an outpost, protecting the eastern flank of the Antigüones Barracks, the Cuartel from Marina and the Doors of San José.
