The students of CEIP La Asomada present to the mayor their project ´El Mar Menor de los Niños´ (17/09/2020)

| It is made up of more than 212 proposals with which these boys and girls from the fifth year of Primary and the first year of ESO seek to safeguard the lagoon salty | Five students from CEIP La Asomada, accompanied by two of their tutors, were in charge of presenting to the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the project they have developed over the last 2 years to restore health to the salty lagoon.

'El Mar Menor de los Niños' is made up of more than 212 proposals, which in these two years of existence already have more than 9,000 followers on social networks.“The 70 students of La Asomada have given a great lesson to all politicians and citizens in general with these 212 proposals so simple to implement, with just a little political will, and how much good they can do to ensure the future of our salty lagoon ”, explained the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.Those chosen to present this ambitious battery of proposals to the first mayor of Cartagena were two of the center's teachers and creators of the project, Francisco Ruiz Salmerón and Caridad Marín, and the students Amina Lahfaoui Jiménez, Román Gllardo Jiménez, Juana María Belando, David Villegas Sigüenza and Omar Bouassab Zakan.Castejón has committed to them to transfer these proposals to the Mar Menor Special Commission and the Reforestation Table, launched by the Cartagena City Council, and that they can also present them in the La Manga Consortium, since many of them are focused on this locality.The mayor has also explained to them the actions that the City Council has planned or in progress for the riverside towns, especially for Los Urrutias and Los Nietos.“We are very satisfied that the mayor receives us and thus concludes the round we have done with the mayors of the Mar Menor, to whom we have asked that there be a consensus among politicians so that the Mar Menor conserves its natural values ??and prioritizes to its ecosystem ”, one of the professors Francisco Ruiz Salmerón has indicated.The students who participate in this project feel very proud of the work done: "This Mar Menor project has been very important for us to learn about the ecosystem and sustainability," said one of the participants, Omar Bouassab.

On the other hand, the student, David Villegas explained that "the Mar Menor is a treasure that we must share."For her part, her partner Amina Lahfaoui has stated: "I would like the elderly and our parents to be able to feel the Mar Menor as it was when they were little." "It has been a fantastic experience to have been with the mayor of Cartagena and have written many proposals," said another of the participating students, Román Gallardo.
