Taxi drivers can now request a grant from the City Council to place protection screens in their vehicles (09/09/2020)

| The deadline for requesting these aids, whose purpose is to guarantee protection measures against Covid, will remain open for one month | This Wednesday, September 9, the deadline has been opened to request, in the General Registry of the Cartagena City Council, the subsidy for the placement of non-fixed screens in the taxis of the municipality of Cartagena, in order to guarantee safety and protection of drivers and users of this means of transport, in compliance with the protection measures against COVID-19.The councilor of the Infrastructure Area, María Casajús, recalled “after the meetings held with the sector where they expressed their concern to guarantee the protection of taxi drivers and users against the coronavirus, the City Council allocates 12,000 euros to help them cover placement costs of screens in their vehicles, through a subsidy that pays the cost of preventive separation barriers between drivers and users, temporarily and easily removable up to a maximum of € 65.00 including VAT ”.Casajús has remarked that “so far, 43 taxis have installed screens that comply with all the security measures for the circulation of taxis.

The subsidy covers all facilities acquired after the declaration of the State of Alarm for COVID-19 until one month after the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) ”.Thus, to request this aid, to which the Cartagena City Council has allocated 12,000 euros, a period is opened that begins this Wednesday, September 9 and ends on October 9.
