MC: The alarm grows in the residents of the provincial councils before the uncontrolled dumping of rubble and waste on the roads of the municipality (06/09/2020)

| "The inaction of both the Government and the presidencies of the neighborhood councils turn certain points of Cartagena into a dunghill" | This morning, the MC councilor and head of neighborhoods and councils, Enrique Pérez, announced that members of the Cartagena formation will present various initiatives to demand solutions to the illegal dumping of rubble and different waste in open fields, shoulders and ditches of different roads in the municipality . This situation is aggravated by the lack of convening of ordinary plenary sessions in the neighborhood councils, something that goes against transparency and neighborhood participation, preventing the problems of these areas from being addressed and measures can be demanded from the presidencies of these boards . In this sense, the complaints made in the last two months by MC members at the La Palma, El Albujón, El Algar, La Puebla La Aparecida and Alramos boards regarding the lack of cleaning of lots due to municipal inaction, is added the uncontrolled dumping of rubble and different waste such as electrical appliances, tiles, ceramics, wood or stones from minor works and home repairs, where the absence of municipal control coupled with the inaction of the presidencies of neighborhood councils has resulted in the accumulation of these discharges in some councils. Regarding the claims of the MC members, it is worth highlighting the situation denounced by the representative in the La Palma Neighborhood Board, María Antonia Pérez, regarding the lack of control of the municipal service and the immobility of the president of this board, which has had as As a consequence, a dumping point is established in the Los Conesas area between the service road and the railway line, accumulating all kinds of equipment. Pérez has outlined that "there is no information on the functions of the two existing fixed points for residents of neighborhoods and councils, since it is known that these points can collect rubble waste in certain quantities for minor and home works, 100/120 kg / day, so an information campaign in the media or the publication of brochures that collect schedules and types of waste and its distribution by associations and omitas would be very useful ". In the territory belonging to the Neighborhood Council of El Albujón Miranda, MC's spokesperson, José Andrés Las Carrión, has indicated three discharge points: the exit of the highway from La Aljorra to Pozo Dulce in Miranda, Casas de la Venta in Lomas del Albujón and Los Garcías area in El Albujón. For Las Carrión, this waste problem is aggravated by the limitations that some councils have to access the two existing fixed points in La Asomada and La Vaguada, since despite having mobile clean points in the councils, the distance in kilometers is considerable enough to make use of them when there is rubble from minor works and home repairs, so MC will propose to the Plenary of the Neighborhood Board of El Albujón-Miranda the installation of a Fixed Clean Point for the county councils of the North zone, taking advantage of the lands that the Consistory has in these areas, action that must have collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment. Regarding Alums, the state of the road from Media Legua to the Polígono was denounced, prompting an MC initiative in the last plenary session of this Board due to the dumping of debris and the lack of cleaning.

The member José Miguel Contreras has lamented the lack of information and awareness among residents to offer resources and actions to stop these situations. Contreras considers it necessary to increase vigilance and control in compliance with regulations, strictly applying the waste ordinance, publishing the information on sanctions to deter offenders, especially repeat offenders. Finally, Enrique Pérez stressed that for MC it is essential to "protect the environment and public health, by cleaning, collecting and treating waste in the environmental settings of the towns, avoiding that no dumps are made, but also denouncing who carry them out ".
