| After the summer it will put out to tender the works, valued at more than 155,000 euros, with the extension of its sidewalks and renovation of the road surface to create an accessible route that guarantees the movement of people with reduced mobility | The Torreciega Bridge, in Cartagena, will expand the area for pedestrian use to increase safety and improve the mobility of citizens who pass through it.

An accessible itinerary will be created that will guarantee the autonomous and continuous circulation of people with reduced mobility. For this, the Autonomous Community will put out to tender after the summer the works to widen the sidewalks of the bridge of the RM-F35 regional highway (Cartagena-San Javier) that accumulates an average daily traffic of 5,130 vehicles, of which 369 are heavy. The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, visited the Torreciega bridge together with the Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, and the President of the Neighborhood Association, Teodosio Romero, and pointed out that this action responds to a demand history of the residents of the area, thanks to the "close collaboration" with the Cartagena City Council to define the best project. The works will consist of the demolition of the sidewalks and roads, and then proceed to the construction of a wider sidewalk on one of the two sides of the bridge to guarantee universal accessibility for all users, especially elderly people with disabilities.

and people with baby carriages. With this action, the width of the existing sidewalks will double, which today have a width of 0.80 meters and which will become 1.80 meters.

Likewise, high energy efficiency LED lighting will be installed and a bionda will be installed between the sidewalk and the road to increase safety measures for pedestrians. Finally, the road pavement will be renovated to improve road traffic and road markings will be repainted.

The execution period of the works is three months and they have a budget of 155,000 euros. More improvements on the RM-F35 The regional government also carried out an action to reinforce the pavement of the rest of the RM-F35 road to improve the safety and comfort of the road and ensure that driving is more comfortable and safe. It also involved the repair of the metal railing of the Torreciega bridge, by cleaning the rust and painting the drainage system of the road to avoid the accumulation of water and the possible overflow into the road, and the renewal of the vertical signaling and horizontal road. The total investment that the Community will allocate to this route amounts to 316,000 euros, which is one more example of the firm commitment of the Regional Government with the development of the infrastructures of Cartagena.
