The entry of 41 new officers to the Local Police staff will serve to enhance the figure of the Neighborhood Police (31/07/2020)

"To these 41 new agents, another 3 will be added shortly, currently still in formation, and over the next year another 7 more positions will be created for the replacement of vacancies.

With all this, the staff will exceed 300 agents, a considerable number that, according to Castejón, "will allow us to fulfill the commitment that we acquired from the municipal government to implement the figure of the Neighborhood Police, that closest local agent" .In this sense, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Juan Pedro Torralba, stressed that the presence of the local police in neighborhoods and councils will be strengthened.

"The entry of these new agents will allow us for the time being to fill vacancies and summer vacations and then, in September or October, a restructuring of the Barracks' personnel will be carried out," stressed the mayor.Currently, as Torralba has detailed, about 60 more agents would be missing to have the ideal template in Cartagena.

In terms of resources, the acquisition of 6 patrol cars for the city, 4 all-terrain vehicles for the barracks, 2 vans to have 2 crowded teams and 6 motorcycles is in process, representing an investment that exceeds 400,000 euros.The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Councilor for Personnel, Esperanza Nieto, the councilors of the corporation, Jesús Giménez, Gonzalo Abad and Aurelia García, the local police commissioner, Emilio Rodríguez, and the director general of Public Function of the Autonomous Community, Carmen María Zamora Párraga, on which the Training and Innovation School of Public Administration (EFIAP) depends, which has certified the training period and enabling practices of the new agents, which have been developed in the municipal ESPAC.This training period began on November 4 and was altered by the decree of the State of Alarm due to the COVID-19 crisis.

However, the new agents have been able to finish it with a few weeks of delay over the initially planned period and will be able to join the ordinary services from August 1.
