MC requests to meet with the Government delegate to help solve the humanitarian and management crisis in the face of the arrival of illegal immigrants (28/07/2020)

| José López: "We must offer planned solutions and work so that Cartagena can help and not be the victim of mafias and incompetent politicians "| Given the latest events in the municipality regarding the arrival of illegal immigrants on our coasts, and the feeling of lack of coordination between the Government Delegation and the local Executive, MC Cartagena has requested to hold a meeting with the Government delegate, José Vélez, in order to know first-hand the operation that is underway, as well as the data of the actions carried out so far and the forecast and future action protocols. MC has transferred to the Government Delegation that this training understands that "immigration is a State problem, but it is also true that at this time it affects our municipality directly".

For this reason, in the interview request MC acknowledges "our concern about this situation, which should not be repeated without assuming without improving the action protocols and temporary reception facilities in the port of Cartagena." In line with this news, the municipal spokesman, José López, pointed out this morning that "the constant arrival of boats on our coast, as well as the device launched in the port of Cartagena this weekend, has generated doubts and concerns in the population". The mayor added that "these doubts are paid by the complaints and incidents that transcend from Corps and State Security Forces, Local Police or other operators linked to the operation, the leaks of immigrants and the news about the coronavirus." "Planned solutions versus taxation" López has revealed that "the institutional information is contradictory, in fact the City Council, the Autonomous Community and the Government Delegation seem more interested in the political dance than in managing the situation." Faced with this situation, he explained that "we have decided to demand the explanations that the Cartagena people are denying to the local Government but also and, above all, to the Government Delegate as representative of the Government of Spain." Likewise, the spokesman has drawn attention to the fact that "immigration is a state problem that now affects Cartagena and for which it is necessary to offer planned solutions to the improvisation that, on occasions, seems to preside over the situation." "It is not a crisis of colors, as PP and PSOE seem to interpret, but humanitarian, political and management and we cannot stand idly by" For this reason, he asserted that "I trust that Mr.

Vélez will respond to the request that is accompanied by our offer to collaborate, more necessary than ever before the blockade that Arroyo has brought to the possibilities of coordination.

It is not a crisis of colors, as PP and PSOE seem to interpret, but humanitarian, political and management and we cannot stand idly by.

" Lastly, José López concluded by stating that "it is necessary to guarantee the hygienic and sanitary conditions of immigrants and those who guard them, implement serious action protocols and work at home so that Cartagena can help and not be the victim of mafias and incompetent politicians "
