MC: ´La Trinca´ saves on security while raising taxes (23/07/2020)

| Jesús Giménez: "There are days when there is no patrol in La Azohía or, as yesterday, there is no attention to the public at the Cabo de Palos barracks" | In the past, there has been knowledge of the lack of agreement between the local government and union representatives to establish the Special Dedication Regime (RED) that regulates the extraordinary services of the Local Police. The lack of an efficient management of the Local Police has as a consequence that the government of fugitives and PP has not yet been able to incorporate new officers whose positions were promoted by MC to the staff.

Likewise, the lack of resources and poor organization has been noted in episodes such as those that occurred recently such as the 'bottling' of the past weekend or the situation on the beaches. Insecurity is a constant in the municipality, being a repeated neighborhood complaint both in the urban area and in neighborhoods and county councils.

It should be remembered that MC has promoted the holding of extraordinary plenary sessions in councils such as La Palma and La Aljorra.

Regarding this last deputation, all the groups with representation in the Neighborhood Board agreed, among other measures, to demand a greater presence of the Local Police, to enable a stay in the Civic Center as a base for patrols that provide service in the area, as well as that the necessary steps be taken to provide the Civil Guard with more resources. This unanimous agreement was rejected in the municipal plenary session by PP, fugitives and Cs, which prompted MC to demand the disapproval of the local government in the La Aljorra Neighborhood Council, something that days ago the opposition of the representatives in this deputation of PP, PSOE and Cs turning their backs on the neighbors to their concern about the insecurity they suffer. To all this we must add the public complaint made by the unions regarding "the lack of personnel and the dire situation experienced by the staff of the Cartagena Local Police." "The Government charges us 3.5 million euros more for the rise in IBI, while leaving the beaches without police because they do not want to pay hours" This morning, the spokesman for the Municipal Group MC Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, has indicated that "the economic disorder also compromises the security of the municipality." "The current lack of Local Police on the coast of Cartagena abounds in a situation that throughout the year has generated insecurity in neighborhoods and councils," explained Giménez, adding that "there are days when there is no patrol in La Azohía or, as yesterday, there is no attention to the public in the Cabo de Palos barracks.

" The mayor has denounced that "this is how the same government saves money that this summer is charging us 3.5 million euros more for the rise in the IBI, leaving the beaches without police because they do not want to pay hours." For this reason, from MC "we demand the inescapable expansion of the hours bag, since the pandemic has also allowed them to be adjusted, and we hope that Nieto stops saving on security." "We are very afraid that this irresponsibility will be reinforced by the lack of liquidity in the City Council due to erratic economic management and the internal tensions that make it so difficult to set priorities.

As if this were not enough, rumors indicate that the local government is going to place the former police chief at ESPAC to cast shadow and pressure on the current person in charge, "concluded Jesús Giménez.
