UPCT professor Garcia Guirao is appointed editor-in-chief of the Mathematics section of Symmetry (16/07/2020)

Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Juan Luis García Guirao, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Mathematics section of the prestigious Symmetry, a Swiss journal of interdisciplinary science.Symmetry, from the Swiss group mdpi has become in recent years an international reference in the scientific field.

It publishes works in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Sciences.García Guirao is a researcher responsible for the Dynamic Systems Group applied to Engineering at the UPCT.

He has also been a member of the executive committee of the Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics for the past eight years.

He was also a member of the Editorial Committee of the journal MATCH Communications in Mathematical and in Computer Chemistry, number one in the ranking of publications in Interdisciplinary Mathematics and founder and editor-in-chief of the research journal Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences, which is already indexed by the Scopus database and that will shortly receive its first impact index.The professor at the Industrial School became the youngest university professor in Spain in 2011, with the current university law, achieving the position at 33 years of age.

He has published more than 200 research articles in the best international magazines.

Before joining the UPCT in 2005 he was a professor at the universities of Alicante, Castilla-La Mancha and the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

During the 2013-2014 academic year, he taught at the American University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

In 2019-2000, at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.Symmetry's impact rating is 2.143.

The impact index of a magazine is a number that identifies the impact of the results it publishes.

In this case, in the last two years Symmetry has become an indisputable international reference in the field of interdisciplinary science.
