| These meetings are part of the Intercultural Community Intervention Project promoted by the "la Caixa" Foundation and developed by the Cartagena City Council and the Cepaim Foundation | The Department of Social Services held this Friday, July 3, the VI Technical Conference "Living together in the present, building the future: ICI Cartagena Project Yesterday and Today", at the Colegio Patronato Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Cartagena.
A working space between technicians from public administrations and social entities, committed to the work of improving intercultural coexistence and the use of resources in the neighborhoods of the Historic Quarter and the Station Sector.The VI Community Technical Conference is part of the Intercultural Community Intervention Project promoted by the “la Caixa” Foundation and developed by the Cartagena City Council and the Cepaim Foundation.The main objective of this Conference has been to share with the technicians and techniques of the territory the most relevant aspects of the development of the ICI project in Cartagena, making it possible to reflect on what has been done during more than 6 years of development of the Intercultural Community Process, the limitations or weaknesses found and the achievements made during the process.
This technical contribution will allow progress towards a future of sustainability, which will have an impact on intercultural citizen coexistence and on the existing resources in the Historic District and the Station Sector.This project focuses on the development of a community process to promote intercultural citizen coexistence and social cohesion in Casco Histórico and Sector Estación, neighborhoods with a rich cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity.
In this context, the processes of cohesion and community intervention are essential for this territory to be a space where its neighbors feel integrated, supported and with opportunities for development.In the development of the technical conference, the Casco Antiguo Health Center, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, MURAM, the UPCT and the community team that contributes the project itself have participated.
Your contribution is key to the concretion of a Community Report, which will allow a systematization of the most relevant aspects of the development of the Project in the Historic Center and Station Sector, as well as a balance of everything achieved throughout these years (from 2014 to 2020).INTERCULTURAL COMMUNITY INTERVENTION PROJECT (ICI)In Cartagena, the “la Caixa” Foundation has been developing the ICI Project since 2014, together with the City Council and the social entity Fundación Cepaim, in the neighborhoods of the Historic Center and the Station Sector, where it works to promote social cohesion and intercultural dialogue.In the Historic District and the Station Sector, priority is given to the diversity of citizens.
It is estimated that more than 40,000 people have participated in the various actions promoted by the ICI Project.
