MC will ask the Commonwealth for the opening of "Los Canales" (03/07/2020)

| José López: "The moments of recreation of thousands of Cartagena are not understood without this park and it is not credible as an excuse that it has not adapted to the new normality" | The Rafael de la Cerda Park, popularly known as `Los Canales´, is the facility where thousands of Cartagena have enjoyed their leisure for 70 years.

The Tentegorra park is managed by the Commonwealth of the Canals of Taibilla (MCT) and is the most popular recreation area in our municipality. At this time the facility is closed to the public and hundreds of Cartagena residents have contacted MC to report this situation.

Social networks have also echoed the doubts and claims of users regarding the closure and lack of information. The Municipal Group MC Cartagena has collected this social demand and its spokesperson, José López, has announced that it will address a letter to the President of the MCT, Francisca Baraza, in response to the inaction of the City Council, which is part of the executive committee but has not moved about.López recalled that "in the months of July and August there are more than 100,000 visits to the park, which shows that the moments of recreation of thousands of Cartagena are not understood without the channels."The mayor of Cartagena added that "in a summer full of uncertainty, this facility was presented as a resource for many of them and it turns out that the door is closed and there is no official information on this closure.

So we will ask."López has stressed that "it would not be credible as an excuse that he has not adapted to the new normal, because they have had 4 months to prepare it and also the constant improvement in recent years shows that they are capable of doing it.""In addition, there are areas such as the adventure park that could be open from phase 1 because they are active tourism, which makes the closure more striking."The MC spokesman concluded by wishing that "with the ideal health and safety conditions, the park will be open next week, because other similar facilities are open and, in this case, as there is a public administration behind its social responsibility and commitment to the Cartagena must be older.
