| After 40 years of service in the body of the Cartagena Local Police, her career has ended | The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and the councilor for the Citizen Security Area, Juan Pedro Torralba, received this Monday, June 29, the first woman to enter the Cartagena Local Police, María del Carmen Garrido, after finishing their work in the body after 40 years of service."In 40 years I have lived with many companions, I have had four different barracks, there have been good and bad moments, in some services you risk your life, there has been everything," explained María del Carmen Garrido after finishing the meeting with the mayor in the Town Hall.She had been in the body of the Cartagena Local Police since her entry in 1980.

Now after her retirement she has explained that she is not yet aware, "I am not yet ready to the idea that I have retired, right now I am still on vacation" .Maria del Carmen Garrido, has been the first local policewoman in the Region of Murcia, at a time when women were not allowed to be part of the Armed Forces, Civil Guard and National Police, since their bases indicated that it was an essential requirement to be a man.
